Folarin Balogun's brace makes him only the second USA player to score multiple goals in a single World Cup match. The only other is Bert Patenaude, who actually scored a hat-trick (10', 15', 50') vs Paraguay on 17 July 1930 - and, like Balogun, had two of those in the first half.

USA have now benefited from four World Cup own goals - vs Colombia (1994), vs Portugal (2002), vs Italy (2006), and now vs Paraguay (2026).

USA's 3-0 half-time lead is the first time a team has led by three or more goals at the break since Brazil's 4-0 over South Korea at half-time in the 2022 Round of 16 (Brazil won 4-1).

USA have now led 3-0 in a World Cup match for the fourth time: vs Belgium (1930, by the 69th minute, won 3-0), vs Paraguay (1930, by the 50th minute, won 3-0), and vs Portugal (2002, by the 36th minute, won 3-2).
